Job Summary
Oasis XRE is seeking an engaging and creative Health & Physical Education Teacher to teach and support students at Virtual Horizons Charter School.
This position is ideal for an educator who believes health and physical education can be active, relevant, and engaging even in a virtual school environment. The teacher will develop and deliver standards-aligned Health and PE instruction while finding creative ways to incorporate movement, wellness, fitness, technology, and immersive learning experiences.
The Health & PE Teacher will:
- Plan and deliver engaging Health and Physical Education instruction aligned with Utah standards.
- Develop creative opportunities for students to participate in physical activity, fitness, wellness, and healthy-living activities.
- Use virtual reality and educational technology to create interactive and immersive learning experiences.
- Monitor student participation and academic progress and provide individualized support when needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Health and Physical Education courses aligned with applicable Utah Core Standards.
- Create engaging lessons that encourage students to develop lifelong habits related to physical activity, nutrition, wellness, and healthy decision-making.
- Develop physical activities students can safely complete at home and in other appropriate settings.
- Incorporate movement, fitness challenges, projects, demonstrations, and experiential learning into instruction.
- Use virtual reality, online learning platforms, and other educational technologies to enhance instruction.
- Develop or adapt curriculum, assignments, assessments, and instructional resources.
- Evaluate student work and provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Monitor student attendance, participation, engagement, and academic progress.
- Identify students who need additional assistance and provide appropriate intervention and support.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary and project-based learning opportunities.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, training, and school activities.
- Participate in occasional in-person student activities, orientations, field trips, fitness or wellness events, and other school-sponsored activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate student records and protect confidential student information.
- Perform other instructional responsibilities reasonably related to the position.

- Ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual learning environment.
- Creativity in designing physical activities that students can participate in outside of a traditional gymnasium.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with technology and willingness to learn virtual reality and emerging educational technologies.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities, needs, and fitness levels.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teachers and other members of the school team.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm for working in an innovative and evolving educational environment.
Previous virtual reality experience is not required. Training will be provided.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates currently working towards a degree, particularly in education, health, physical education, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
- Utah teaching license and appropriate endorsement preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in Health, Physical Education, fitness, wellness, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with middle or high school students is preferred.
- Experience with online, blended, competency-based, or technology-supported instruction is a plus.
- Candidates should be willing and able to complete required training related to virtual reality instruction and educational technology.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position involves significant computer-based work as well as demonstrating and participating in age-appropriate physical activities.
The employee may be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, demonstrate exercises or movement, and occasionally lift or transport instructional materials and technology equipment. The employee should be able to safely demonstrate or explain physical activities appropriate to the courses being taught.
The position is primarily performed remotely, with occasional travel for school activities, student events, professional development, training, or other school-related responsibilities.
